New, hot of the production line, buses for London General

On the 19th July, many London General routes were retendered including the 87 and 219. These both got new buses, that of E40H and Streetlites. Today the contract for the 87 happened and the E40H are on the 88 instead, perhaps better suited. These have features such as: Length of 10.2m Top speed of 65 - 70 mph (104 kph - 112 kph) Blue neon interior lighting A comfy ride! Today the contract for the 219 happened, and the Streetlites are on the 219, as they should be. These have features such as: Length of 10.8m Top speed of 65 mph - 70 mph (104 kph - 112 kph) Blue neon interior lighting Unpopularity with drivers! The next post will be next week when we cover Metroline's Potters Bar open day. I hope you enjoy reading this post.

  1. Why are the Streetlites unpopular they are so comfortable to ride as a passenger. They are so identical to there double deck sister B9TL 10.4m/Gemini 2. I do hope more bus companies order Streetlites. Wrightbus Definately know how to make good buses

  3. Yeah I agree - Streetlites are good especially with that Voith gearbox and nice styling.
Not sure they'd be able to do 65-70mph (if someone told you then alright - but all buses should be limited to 50-59mph by law).
    Nice pictures and good post!

    1. No if you push it they can do up to 70 mph. Yeah I like them, though a driver I spoke to prefers the 200's.

  4. Route 88 received the new E40H before the contract renewal of the route the E40H were allocated to, route 87. I think Wednesday was when I saw the first E40H on the 88.

  5. Great post! Saw a new 88 last Saturday. They look very comfortable. Did you see EH1,2,3,4,5? I saw two. Surprised you didn't get any pictures of them. Still a good post though!
