Route 425 Observations

Yesterday, Route 425 passed to Tower Transit using brand new Enviro 400 buses from the Lea Interchange depot in Leyton, East London. Route 425 started in 2008 as a replacement for the Route S2, which was created in 1998, and run by Capital Citybus and First. Then in 2008, ahead of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, it was announced that the S2 would be withdrawn and rerouted via a new route 425 fun by Docklands Buses based in Silvertown using the company's only Scania Omnicitys. Then in October 2012 First won the contract, however Tower Transit has since bought First and now run the 425. The Omnicitys will be going off-lease. I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

OPL4 on the 463!

Yesterday night I decided to go to the Chinese Takeaway for dinner, and whilst I was waiting for my food to be cooked, I decided to do some bus-spotting. Then this creped up on me! I have been waiting since November for this, and was relived that I had finally got a shot. Next step: riding one! I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

Route 24 Observations (NB4L)

Back in January 2012, it was announced that the 24 was to gain Borismasters. This was the first route to get them, alongside 8 prototypes on Route 38. Today, the change happened and it was clear from the half an hour my friend Josh waited for one then 3 came along. It was clear there was bunching, but nevertheless, I met up with mates from the West London Time Masters Blog and the fabulous London Buses: on the go blog to cover the new buses. I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

On the 31st of January 2013, route 60 was retained by Arriva London using new and existing buses. 8 Enviro 400's were ordered and these have arrived! They have white on black blinds, and I must say, are rather smart. The existing buses will come from the TC allocation, so DW's and T. The contract begins on the 31st of August. New, hot of the production line, buses for London General

On the 19th July, many London General routes were retendered including the 87 and 219. These both got new buses, that of E40H and Streetlites. Today the contract for the 87 happened and the E40H are on the 88 instead, perhaps better suited. These have features such as: Length of 10.2m Top speed of 65 - 70 mph (104 kph - 112 kph) Blue neon interior lighting A comfy ride! Today the contract for the 219 happened, and the Streetlites are on the 219, as they should be. These have features such as: Length of 10.8m Top speed of 65 mph - 70 mph (104 kph - 112 kph) Blue neon interior lighting Unpopularity with drivers! The next post will be next week when we cover Metroline's Potters Bar open day. I hope you enjoy reading this post.

Arriva's refurbished ENL's!

On the 1st May, whilst at Addington Village waiting for a T32, I saw ENL27 refurbished. I imagin this is for the 166 contract, due to begin in August 2013. I also saw ENL6, refurbished. However, the T31 contract does not begin until 2014, so they presume they are going to retain the route if they are refurbishing them!I hope you enjoy reading this post.
